EU Customs Fees for Dropshipping (2026): €3 → €5 Per Line, Explained
---
Dropshipping into the EU used to be "shipping included, problem solved." Then July 2026 happened: a flat €3 customs duty on every low-value import line. And November 1 makes it €5.
The uncomfortable part for dropshippers: you're not the one who builds the customs declaration — your supplier is. So the fees hit your customers, your margins, and your disputes, without ever appearing in your store analytics.
What the fees look like for a dropshipping order
The €3 duty (€5 from November 1) is charged per declaration line on goods under €150.
| Order contents | Declaration lines | Duty (July rates) | Duty (Nov 1 rates) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Single product | 1 | €3 | €5 |
| Two products, different HS codes | 2 | €6 | €10 |
| Two products, same HS6 code (grouped) | 1 | €3 | €5 |
| Four products, declared separately | 4 | €12 | €20 |
The same rule that hurts is the same rule that saves: HS6 grouping. Products sharing the same HS6 code can be declared as one line. Whether your supplier does this — or splits everything line-by-line — determines whether your orders cost €3 or €12+.
Why dropshippers are hit hardest
1. Suppliers control the declaration. You can't see or fix line structures you don't build. 2. Dropshipping orders are often multi-line. Customer orders two items → two lines → two charges. 3. Wrong HS codes are endemic. Alibaba-style suppliers routinely use generic or incorrect codes, causing 5–15 day customs holds and storage fees — which someone pays.
Three things every dropshipper should do
1. Ask your supplier how they declare
One email: "How do you structure customs declarations for EU orders — per line or grouped by HS6?" The answer tells you your real per-order cost.
2. Audit a sample of shipped orders
Pull recent EU orders and check the actual declarations. Look for:
- Multiple charges on single orders
- Generic HS codes (e.g., "9999" or vague categories)
- Charges that don't match your pricing assumptions
3. Price for the November rate, not the July rate
If you've been pricing €3 per order, you're already under on multi-line orders — and November makes the gap 67% wider. Re-price before the new rates land.
