HS code lookup — quick answers

What's the difference between an HS code and an HTS code?

HS codes are the international 6-digit base used by 200+ countries. The US adds two more digits to make its own HTS codes (hts.usitc.gov), while the EU extends to 8-digit commodity codes for the EU Tariff (TARIC). This tool returns the 6-digit EU import classification — the level where the €3 / €5 small-parcel duty applies per declaration line.

Is this the right code for shipping from China to the EU?

Yes — for EU-bound parcels, the 6-digit HS code is the classification level used to merge declaration lines and apply the €3 duty (Reg (EU) 2026/382). Your customs broker may require the full 8-digit commodity code at filing time; the 6-digit base is the right starting point and matches what our CSV auditor checks.

How does the €3 / €5 duty apply to my HS code?

For low-value parcels (≤€150) to the EU, the flat duty is charged per declaration line: €3 per line now, and €3 + €2 Union Handling Fee = €5 per line from Nov 1, 2026. Products sharing the same 6-digit HS code + description merge into ONE line and are charged once — that's where most stores overpay.
