Best Shopify Apps for International Shipping Duties 2026: What to Install
---
International shipping duties used to be a footnote. Then the EU made them the costliest line item no one can see: €3 per declaration line since July 2026, €5 from November 1 — charged per line, invisible in Shopify, and mandatory-PID territory.
Here's how to compare the Shopify apps in this space, and what to install for 2026.
The app categories (don't compare apples to oranges)
| Category | What it does | Solves | Doesn't solve |
|---|---|---|---|
| Duty calculators | Estimates landed cost from inputs | Pricing | Finding real overcharges |
| HS code lookup/classification | Assigns product codes | Catalog accuracy | Order-level fee exposure |
| DDP/duties-included labels | Generates all-in shipping | Customer experience | Under-estimated duty math |
| Audit tools | Reads your real orders, flags overcharges | The actual money leak | — |
Most "best app" lists compare calculators to audits. They're different products for different problems.
What your store needs (by situation)
Low EU volume, informational need: → A calculator is fine. Budget for €5 per line from November. Don't over-invest.
Growing EU volume, multi-line orders: → You need an audit. This is where the real cost hides: an order with 3 lines costs €9–€15 in duty, and no calculator is going to tell you your actual lines-per-order number.
DDP seller: → You need DDP labels and an audit. DDP math based on July rates is under-priced by 67% on the duty component.
Any store with messy product data: → HS code accuracy first (mandatory PIDs from November 1), then order-level visibility.
The 4 questions to ask any app
1. Does it know the November rules? €5 per line, €2 Union Handling Fee, per-declaration-line charging. 2025-era apps will mislead you. 2. Does it read my Shopify orders? Or do I type numbers into a form? Form-based = estimates only. 3. Does it flag overcharges, or just estimate fees? The word "audit" should mean scanning actual orders. 4. What's the real pricing? Per-order fees compound on high volume; "free" tiers usually only estimate.
Why most sellers should start with an audit
The 2026 EU change isn't a pricing question — it's a leak question. Stores are already paying €3 per line (and will pay €5), often 2–4× their assumption on multi-line orders. Before you optimize anything, know your number: average lines per order, actual duty paid, HS code risk.
