EU Duty Audit Tools Compared for Shopify: Alternatives to DutyRight

---

Let's be honest: we're a tool in this space, so take this with the appropriate skepticism — and then check the math yourself. Here's how the EU duty tools for Shopify sellers actually compare in 2026.

Where most tools fall short in 2026

1. They're built on per-order math

Most duty tools calculate "one charge per parcel." The 2026 rule is per declaration line. Tools that don't model per-line charging underestimate multi-line orders by 2–4× — silently.

2. They're stuck on IOSS-era rules

Pre-2026 tools handle VAT, not duty. Tools from mid-2026 may know the €3 rate but not the €5 rate + €2 Union Handling Fee from November 1. A calculator showing 2025 numbers for 2026 orders is worse than no tool — it tells you costs are lower than they are.

3. They calculate; they don't audit

A calculator needs you to type numbers. An audit reads your Shopify orders and finds where the real charges differ from what you assumed. The money leak in 2026 is invisible in Shopify — only order-level scanning surfaces it.

What DutyRight does differently

Honest summary:

  • Reads your actual orders (order history + product catalog), not typed inputs
  • Applies current rules — €3 per line, €5 from Nov 1, €2 UHF above €150
  • Flags overcharges — multi-line charges, wrong HS codes, HS6 grouping opportunities
  • Free audit, transparent pricing — you see the numbers before committing

Where we're weaker: we're not a checkout calculator, we don't file VAT, and we don't generate labels. For a full stack you still need an IOSS/VAT app and a shipping provider. We cover the piece nothing else does: knowing what your EU orders actually cost.
